The rise of land masses after the removal of the enormous weight of ice sheets from the last glacial period, the recovery phase of glacial isostatic adjustment. Its direct raising effects are readily apparent in parts of Northern Eurasia, Northern America, Patagonia and Antarctica, and through ocean siphoning and continental levering its effects on sea level are felt globally, far from the current and former ice sheets.
