Dolomite, also called dolomite rock, dolostone or dolomitic rock, is a sedimentary carbonate rock containing a high percentage of the mineral dolomite, calcium magnesium carbonate. Most dolomite formed as a magnesium replacement of limestone or lime mud before lithification, a process called dolomitization.
