Tauferer Ahrntal

Tauferer Ahrntal is the valley of the Ahr River, a tributary valley of the Puster Valley in South Tyrol, Italy, in the northeasternmost part of the province near the Austrian border, in the Central Eastern Alps. It splits into two sections, the Tauferer Tal (Val di Tures), running from the Rienz River confluence near Bruneck to Sand in Taufers, and the Ahrntal proper, continuing on to Prettau, Italy northernmost comune, at the valley source. The Zillertal Alps rise to its north and west and the Hohe Tauern range Rieserferner Group to its south and east, and a state highway follows the valley from Bruneck through Gais and Sand in Taufers, past Taufers Castle, to Prettau and the Birnlücke Pass.
