This group collects the Valleys subcategory's members located in Europe, spanning alpine valleys of Switzerland, Austria, France and Italy, British and Irish glens and valleys, Scandinavian valleys of Norway and Sweden, and named valleys across central, eastern and southern Europe from Poland and Slovakia to Romania and the Balkans. Europe's long tradition of local place-name documentation and dense settlement history means a very large share of the subcategory's individually named, historically or culturally significant valleys are European, which is why this is by far the largest of the subcategory's continent-level groups.
