Home›Valleys›Valleys of Europe›Valleys of the Eastern AlpsGroupValleys of the Eastern AlpsThis group collects the former Valleys of the Alps and Central Europe group's members lying in the eastern ranges of the Alps: the valleys of Austria across Tyrol, Vorarlberg, Carinthia and Lower Austria, the valleys of Italy's South Tyrol and Trentino, and the Julian and Kamnik Alps of Slovenia. The eastern Alps are geologically dominated by the Northern and Southern Limestone Alps and the crystalline central zone running through the Hohe Tauern and the Dolomites, a markedly different rock record from the granitic western arc, and its valleys share a common Austrian, Slovenian and South Tyrolean settlement and place-name history that sets them apart from the rest of the range.FactsBrowse BySourcesComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)FactsComparisonContinentWell-attestedEurope 1Browse ByAll Valleys of the Eastern AlpsValleys of the Eastern Alps43 entriesValleys of the Eastern AlpsFilter Results43 entriesFormation FamilyAllValleys of Europe (43)Valleys of the Eastern Alps (43)Formation TypeAllValleys of the Eastern Alps (43)WhereAllAustria (17)Germany (3)Italy (22)Liechtenstein (1)Slovenia (4)Switzerland (2)Formed By (Process)AllErosion (31)Glaciation (1)Protected StatusAllLocally or Regionally Protected (3)National Park or Reserve (7)Natura 2000 Site (5)DisciplineAllGeomorphology (43)Show ResultsBrowseCompareSelect all 43BersntolValleys2 linksBodentalValleys2 linksBrandnertalValleys2 linksBrixentalValleys2 linksDefereggen ValleyValleys2 linksDurnholzer TalValleys1 linkEggentalValleys1 linkEtschtalValleys2 linksFassa ValleyValleys2 linksFiemme ValleyValleys2 linksHöhlensteintalValleys2 linksHöllental (Lower Austria)Valleys1 linkHöllental (Wetterstein)Valleys1 linkInntalValleys1 linkJaun ValleyValleys1 linkKlostertalValleys2 linksLogar Valley (Slovenia)Valleys2 linksMontafonValleys2 linksNon ValleyValleys2 linksÖtztalValleys1 linkPasseier ValleyValleys2 linksPaznaunValleys2 linksPitztalValleys2 linksPlanicaValleys2 linksPrimieroValleys2 linksRidnauntalValleys2 linksSchnalstalValleys2 linksStubaitalValleys2 linksSuldentalValleys1 linkTauferer AhrntalValleys1 linkTrenta (valley)Valleys1 linkTuxertalValleys2 linksUlten ValleyValleys2 linksVal BadiaValleys2 linksVal di SoleValleys2 linksVal GardenaValleys2 linksVal RendenaValleys2 linksValsuganaValleys2 linksVinschgauValleys2 linksVipava ValleyValleys2 linksWindautalValleys2 linksZerzer TalValleys1 linkZillertalValleys2 linksSources1.
