The Pitztal is an alpine side valley of the upper Inn valley in Tyrol, Austria, lying between the Otztal to the east and the Kaunertal to the west. The Pitze river runs the length of the valley, feeding the Rifflsee lake at 2,232 meters and forming the Gries waterfall in its upper reaches, with an average flow of about 2.7 cubic meters per second. The valley's economy rests on agriculture and tourism, including an underground funicular railway linking the village of Mittelberg at 1,736 meters with the Mittelbergferner glacier at 2,841 meters. Its settlements, among them Wenns, Sankt Leonhard im Pitztal and Arzl im Pitztal, sit at a range of elevations typical of the Alpine terrain the valley's glaciers carved.
