Judge and Clerk Islets

The Judge and Clerk Islets are a pair of small islands lying about 11 kilometres north of Macquarie Island in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, with a combined land and reef area of no more than 20 hectares. Administered with Macquarie Island as part of Tasmania, Australia, they sit inside the Macquarie Island Nature Reserve and were inscribed in the Macquarie Island UNESCO World Heritage Area in 1997, forming a Special Management Area within the reserve. The islets are rarely visited and remain free of introduced animals and plants; a 1976 survey by the research vessel MV Thala Dan found only a green algal coloration on the rock, with no other vegetation.
