Includes single named islands and islets, and groups of islands described as an archipelago or island chain (Aran Islands, Argentine Islands). Belongs here: any entity whose own defining identity is a landmass surrounded by water, whether a single island or a named group. Does not belong here: a single sea stack or reef feature not treated as an island in its own right (Coastal and Reef Features), or a karst or volcanic landscape whose defining identity is its geological process rather than its status as an island (Karst Caves and Sinkholes, Volcanic Formations). This subcategory holds entries the oversized-subcategories report (ruling 926) flagged as likely mis-filed under Geological Formations rather than a geography category; a later review lane may relocate them, but each now has a real, correctly named home rather than sitting inside a catch-all erosional bucket.
