The Defereggen Valley, often called simply Defereggen, is the middle of three east-west running high mountain valleys in East Tyrol, Austria, flanked by the parallel Puster Valley and Virgen Valley. It is served by a road called the Defereggentalstrasse, and its name is thought to derive from either the Celtic word dubar or the Slavic dober, meaning good.
