Processes studied under geology, the atlas's discipline for the solid Earth, its rocks, structure and history, the largest process group in this atlas today. Includes the mechanical, structural and rock-forming processes at the core of geology: Erosion, Weathering, Sedimentation and The Rock Cycle that break down, transport and remake rock; Faulting, Folding, Orogeny, Rifting and Mantle Convection that build and deform the crust; and Plate Tectonics, Seafloor Spreading, Subduction and Post-Glacial Rebound that move and reshape the Earth's outer layers. Belongs here: any process whose primary discipline is the mechanical or structural study of rock and the solid Earth. Does not belong here: a process defined mainly by its chemical composition (Geochemistry), its landform-shaping surface expression apart from tectonics (Geomorphology), or its setting in the ocean, atmosphere or ice (Oceanography, Meteorology, Climatology).
