Geochemistry

Geological processes studied under geochemistry, the atlas's discipline for the chemical composition and cycling of matter through the Earth system. Includes The Carbon Cycle, the movement of carbon between the atmosphere, oceans, rock and living things through weathering, photosynthesis, respiration and the burial of organic material as rock. Belongs here: a process whose primary discipline is the chemical cycling of elements through Earth's systems. Does not belong here: a purely mechanical or structural process studied under geology, even one that also moves material through the rock record (Geology, such as The Rock Cycle).
