Oceanography

Notable ocean-system phenomena: the Gulf Stream, a persistent ocean current, and the Storegga Slide, a prehistoric submarine landslide. Belongs here: a phenomenon whose primary process is oceanic circulation or the physical seafloor and water column. Does not belong here: an earthquake whose secondary effect is oceanic, such as a tsunami, held under Seismology instead, since the earthquake is the defining process.
