Formation Type

Formation type sorts geological formations by the physical shape each one is, such as a canyon, a ridge or a plateau. Wikipedia describes the Grand Canyon as "a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in Arizona, United States," a specific type distinct from a mesa or a fault scarp. This grouping lets a visitor find every formation of one exact kind.
