Lagoons, Sandbanks and Continental Shelves

Shallow coastal water bodies and submerged sediment platforms, including lagoons, sandbanks, estuarine marshes and the continental shelves that lie off the coast. A feature belongs here when its cited article describes a lagoon, a sandbank or a continental shelf. It excludes salt flats and plateaus. Sediment carried by rivers and tides builds these features, and they shelter fisheries and wildlife while changing slowly with sea level.
