Buccaneer Archipelago

The Buccaneer Archipelago is a group of roughly 800 islands off the coast of Western Australia near the town of Derby in the Kimberley region, spanning more than 50 square kilometers at the head of King Sound between King Sound and Collier Bay. Its rocky terrain is built from Precambrian rock formations more than 2 billion years old, and the archipelago experiences tidal ranges exceeding 12 meters, among the largest in the world. Its isolation has kept the islands largely pristine, with cliff faces, sparse vegetation, patches of rainforest and mangrove fringed shores.
