The Argentine Islands are a group of islands in the Wilhelm Archipelago off Antarctica's Graham Land, about 9 kilometers southwest of Petermann Island and 7 kilometers northwest of Cape Tuxen on the Kyiv Peninsula. Discovered by Jean-Baptiste Charcot's French Antarctic Expedition of 1903 to 1905 and named for Argentina in gratitude for its support of the voyage, the group's three principal islands, Galindez, Skua, and Forge, sit among more than forty named rocks, channels, and other features under a polar climate transitional between ice cap and tundra. The islands host the Vernadsky Research Base, established by Britain in 1936 as Base F, moved to Galindez Island in 1954, and transferred to Ukraine in 1996, along with Wordie House, the protected original station building.
