The Rookery Islands are a group of about 75 rocky islands and rocks in western Holme Bay, on the Mawson Coast of Mac.Robertson Land in East Antarctica, north of the David and Masson Ranges. The largest, Giganteus Island and Rookery Island, are low-relief and rocky, rising between 10 and 60 meters, and the group hosts breeding colonies of Adelie penguins, Cape petrels, snow petrels, southern giant petrels, Wilsons storm petrels, and Antarctic skuas; the southern giant petrels breed nowhere else in the region. The islands are protected as Antarctic Specially Protected Area No. 102 and recognized as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International.
