The Wyoming Valley is a historic, industrialized region of northeastern Pennsylvania made up of Lackawanna, Wyoming and Luzerne counties. It had 567,559 residents as of the 2020 census, making it Pennsylvania's fifth largest metropolitan area. The valley's development was fueled by extensive anthracite coal mining during the American Industrial Revolution, and its largest city is Scranton, with a population of 77,114, followed by Wilkes-Barre.
