Vestfjorddalen is a 30 kilometer long valley in Tinn Municipality in Telemark county, Norway, running from the lake Tinnsjaa westward past Rjukan, Vemork, and the Rjukan Falls to the lake Moesvatn. The Maana River runs the length of the valley, which is wide near Moesvatn but narrows into a gorge just below the dam that forms the Skardfoss lake and feeds the Rjukan Falls. Below the falls the valley stays very narrow, hemmed in by mountains 700 to 800 meters high, including Gaustatoppen on its south side, and the steep southern slopes keep much of the valley floor in shadow through the winter.
