Vallee de Joux

The Vallee de Joux is a valley of the Jura Mountains, mainly within the Swiss canton of Vaud, that continues into France at its higher, southwestern end. Located about 30 miles north of Geneva and northwest of Lausanne, it sits at a mean elevation of over 3,300 feet and holds three Swiss lakes, the Lac de Joux, the Lac Brenet and Lake Ter. The French border runs along the valley northern edge until, roughly 10 kilometers west of the Lac de Joux, the valley floor itself becomes French territory and climbs gently toward the Lac des Rousses and the ski resort of Les Rousses.
