Valle Verzasca is a valley in the Locarno district of the Swiss canton of Ticino, running roughly 16 miles between the Leventina and Valle Maggia valleys and carved by the Verzasca River, which is dammed near the valley's southern end to form Lago di Vogorno before continuing to Lago Maggiore. Surrounding peaks average about 7,874 feet while the valley floor lies between roughly 1,640 and 2,953 feet, and none of its mountain passes cross a cantonal or national border.
