Þjórsárdalur is a valley in Árnessýsla county, Iceland, lying between the mountain Búrfell and the river Þjórsá to the east and the mountain Skriðufell to the west. The valley has been repeatedly flattened and covered in pumice by eruptions of the nearby volcano Hekla and other volcanic systems in the area, including the Veiðivötn system, which produced Iceland's largest known lava field, the Þjórsárhraun, in prehistoric times. Landmarks within the valley include the farmstead ruin Þjóðveldisbærinn Stöng, the gorge Gjáin, the waterfall Háifoss, and the cliffs Vegghamrar.
