The Tena Valley lies on the southern flank of the Pyrenees in Spain, in the Alto Gallego district of Huesca province, and is followed north to south by the Gallego river. It is enclosed by peaks reaching about 3,000 meters, including Balaitus, La Gran Facha and Los Infiernos, and its largest town, Sallent de Gallego, is the main settlement among smaller communities such as Lanuza, Escarrilla, Sandinies, Panticosa and Hoz de Jaca. The Formigal ski resort is located in the valley, and the hamlet of Polituara is its only uninhabited settlement.
