Surin Islands

The Surin Islands are a continental archipelago of five islands in the Andaman Sea, about fifty five kilometers from the Thai mainland, within Khura Buri district in Phang Nga province, Thailand. The two largest islands are Ko Surin Nuea and Ko Surin Tai. The islands sit on a base of intrusive granitoid rock topped with a limestone crust built from coral skeletons. They are protected within Mu Ko Surin National Park, Thailand's thirtieth national park, designated in 1981 and later expanded, which covers about 141 square kilometers, most of it ocean.
