Porcupine Islands

The Porcupine Islands are an archipelago of five islands in the Mount Desert Narrows of Frenchman Bay, off Bar Harbor, Maine, comprising Sheep Porcupine Island, Burnt Porcupine Island, Rum Key, Long Porcupine Island and Bald Porcupine Island; nearby Bar Island, part of the same geological formation, is sometimes counted among them. All but Burnt Porcupine are maintained by the National Park Service as part of Acadia National Park, and the islands serve as nesting grounds for sea birds including bald eagles.
