Poisoned Glen is a glacially carved valley near Dunlewey in Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland, lying beside Errigal mountain and extending into Glenveagh National Park above Loch Altan, with the Cronaniv Burn running through it. Local legend holds that the one-eyed giant king Balor was killed here by his grandson Lughaidh, and that poison from Balor's eye split the rock and tainted the glen, giving it its name; an alternative account holds that the valley was originally called An Gleann Neamhe, the Heavenly Glen, in Irish, and that an English mapmaker's mistranscription produced the Poisoned Glen instead.
