Newlands Valley lies in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria, England, within the civil parish of Above Derwent in the Borough of Allerdale, close to the town of Keswick and the A66 road yet described as one of the quietest valleys in the park. The fells Hindscarth and Robinson rise at its head, and a minor road runs its length from Braithwaite through Newlands Hause to Buttermere, serving a thinly populated area of farms and tourist accommodation. The valley is known through Beatrix Potter's 1905 book The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, set in the hamlet of Little Town, and through its mining heritage, including the sixteenth-century Goldscope mine.
