Innerdalen is a glacially carved valley in Sunndal Municipality, in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway, cut by the Ålvundelva river within the Trollheimen mountain range. The valley runs about 25 kilometers from west to east across an area of roughly 73 square kilometers, beginning near the village of Ålvundeidet and extending east to a narrow gap called Innerdalsporten. It is ringed by some of Trollheimen's highest peaks, including Store Trolla at 1,850 meters, Skarfjellet at 1,790 meters, and the distinctive Innerdalstårnet at 1,452 meters, and the Vinnufonna glacier lies at its head. In 1967 Innerdalen became the first nature reserve in Norway, and it remains a popular destination for hikers and climbers, served by cabins including Innerdalshytta, built in 1889.
