A homoclinal ridge, or strike ridge, is a hill or ridge whose backslope, a dip slope, inclines moderately, generally between ten and thirty degrees, following the dip of a resistant caprock stratum. Its opposite side, the frontslope, is a steeper or even cliff like escarpment cut through the same dipping strata where the caprock outcrops.
