Glen Fruin is a valley in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, next to Loch Lomond, named from the Scottish Gaelic Gleann Freóin and drained by the Fruin Water into the loch. The A817 road, historically known as the High Road of the Gaels, runs through the glen connecting the A82 to the Clyde naval base at Garelochhead, a route once built up as a private road to serve construction of the Trident facility at RNAD Coulport before being made public. The glen is best known as the site of the Battle of Glen Fruin, one of the last clan battles in Scotland, in which some 300 MacGregor warriors are recorded as having defeated 600 to 800 Colquhoun soldiers.
