Fnjóskadalur is an agricultural valley in northeastern Iceland, about ten kilometers northeast of Akureyri, drained by the Fnjóská, a popular salmon river that rises in the Sprengisandur highlands and is the longest spring-fed river in Iceland. At its center lies Vaglaskógur, Iceland second largest forest, with the smaller forests of Lundsskógur, Þórðarstaðaskógur and Skuggabjargarskógur nearby, and the valley branches into Dalsmynni to the northwest and Flateyjardalur to the northeast. Its name combines the Icelandic words fnjóskur, a dry piece of wood, and dalur, valley.
