The Elan Valley is a river valley west of Rhayader in Powys, Wales, covering about 70 square miles and sometimes called the Welsh Lake District. It holds a chain of reservoirs and Elan Village, a purpose-built Arts and Crafts model village designed by the architect Herbert Tudor Buckland. More than 80 percent of the valley is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and it has been recognized as an International Dark Sky Park since 2015.
