The Chumbi Valley is a Himalayan valley that projects southward from the Tibetan Plateau between Sikkim and Bhutan, lying within Yadong County of China's Tibet Autonomous Region at roughly 3,000 meters elevation. Positioned on the southern, wetter side of the Himalayan range and linked to Sikkim by the Nathu La and Jelep La passes, it supports Eastern Himalayan broadleaf forest grading into alpine shrub and meadow, in contrast with the arid plateau to its north.
