Cayos Cochinos, also called the Hog Islands, is a group of two main islands and 13 smaller coral cays about 30 kilometers northeast of La Ceiba off the northern coast of Honduras, within the Bay Islands department. About 108 people live there, mostly from Garifuna fishing communities, and the archipelago is managed as a Marine Protected Area by the Honduras Coral Reef Foundation. Its reefs form part of the second largest barrier reef system in the world.
