Baldersdale is a valley on the eastern side of the Pennines in County Durham, England, northwest of Barnard Castle, with the settlements of Hury and Briscoe. Historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire, it moved into County Durham in 1974. The River Balder runs through the dale and past three reservoirs, Balderhead, Blackton and Hury, before joining the River Tees at Cotherstone, and the valley is known for the former farm of Hannah Hauxwell, subject of the 1972 television documentary Too Long a Winter.
