The Amari Valley is a fertile valley on the foothills of Mount Ida and Mount Kedros in the Rethymno regional unit of Crete, Greece. During the Bronze Age the ancient city of Phaistos expanded into the valley, founding a settlement at Monastiraki, and during the Second World War the valley served as a center of resistance, so that after the German abduction of General Heinrich Kreipe, occupying forces destroyed several of its villages and killed more than 160 people.
