Alpine Rhine Valley

The Alpine Rhine Valley is a glacial alpine valley carved by the Alpine Rhine, the stretch of the Rhine River running from the confluence of the Anterior and Posterior Rhine at Reichenau to Lake Constance. About ninety-three kilometers long, its floor narrows to roughly 1.5 kilometers in its uppermost nine kilometers before widening to three or four kilometers along most of its length and to about fifteen kilometers as it approaches Lake Constance. The valley forms part of the borders between Switzerland and Austria and between Switzerland and Liechtenstein, flanked by Alpine peaks exceeding 3,000 meters.
