Airedale is a valley in North and West Yorkshire, England, carved by and named for the River Aire. Its upper reach, from Malham Cove to Airton, is known separately as Malhamdale; at Airton the valley widens and becomes Airedale proper, running past Skipton, Keighley, Bingley, Saltaire and Shipley on its way to Leeds. Together with the neighboring Ribblesdale, Airedale forms the Aire Gap, a low-altitude passage through the Pennines that has long carried transport routes between Yorkshire and Lancashire.
