The fourth and final era of the Archean eon, spanning about 2.8 to 2.5 billion years ago and ending at the start of the Proterozoic. By this era plate tectonic activity may have resembled that of the modern Earth, and cyanobacteria driven photosynthesis was beginning the atmospheric changes that would culminate in the Great Oxidation Event early in the following eon.
