Geophysicist

The scientists whose primary documented field is the earth's physical processes and structure studied through physics rather than direct rock or seismic-wave observation alone: Alfred Wegener, John Tuzo Wilson, W. Jason Morgan, Francis Birch, Frank Press and Walter M. Elsasser among them, plus M. King Hubbert (Hubbert peak, a career spent at geophysics institutions despite a Geologist co-label) and Drummond Matthews and Fred Vine (the Vine-Matthews-Morley hypothesis, marine magnetic geophysics despite a Marine Geologist co-label).
