Geochronologist

The scientists whose primary documented field is measuring or dividing the earth's own history through absolute dating: Arthur Holmes (often named the father of modern geochronology despite a Geologist occupational label), Clair Patterson (determined the age of the earth by lead-lead isotope dating despite a Geochemist occupational label), Bertram Boltwood (pioneered radioactive decay dating despite a Radiochemist occupational label), Willard Libby (invented radiocarbon dating despite a Physical Chemist occupational label) and G. Brent Dalrymple among them. Belongs here: a scientist whose primary, defining contribution is a method or result of absolute geologic dating. Does not belong here: a scientist whose primary contribution is relative dating or general geologic history without an absolute-dating method, held under Geologist instead.
