William James Anderson (November 2, 1812, died May 15, 1873) was a physician, amateur geologist and historian of Scottish descent who emigrated to Canada. During his time in Nova Scotia in the 1830s he developed a strong interest in the region' s geology and history; he later worked in the lumber business in Upper Canada.
