Ven Te Chow was a Chinese American engineer, born in 1919 in Hangzhou, China, and died in 1981. He was a widely recognized hydrologist and hydraulic engineer, acclaimed for his contributions to the study of hydrology and to water resources development, and he taught as a professor of civil and hydrosystems engineering after earning degrees in China, at Pennsylvania State University and at the University of Illinois.
