Hubert Horace Lamb was an English climatologist, born in 1913 in Bedford and died in 1997 in Holt, Norfolk. He founded the Climatic Research Unit in 1972 within the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia, and his research on historical climate helped establish the study of the Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age alongside early theories addressing both global cooling and global warming.
