Antoine Francois Alfred Lacroix, known as Alfred Lacroix, was a French mineralogist and geologist, born in 1863 in Macon, Saone-et-Loire, and died in 1948. His work in mineralogy and geology earned him the Wollaston Medal in 1917, the Hayden Memorial Geological Award in 1923 and the Penrose Medal in 1930, and he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society; his doctoral advisor was Ferdinand Andre Fouque.
