Wind direction

Wind direction is reported as the direction from which the wind originates rather than the direction it is blowing toward, so a north or northerly wind blows from the north toward the south. In meteorology, wind direction is usually communicated using either the cardinal and intercardinal compass points or a numerical bearing in degrees, where north is 0 or 360 degrees and east is 90 degrees. Weather forecasts typically report wind direction alongside wind speed, for example describing conditions as a northerly wind at a given speed.
