Unexplained and Folkloric Lights

This group collects the Meteorology subcategory's members that are reported lights without a single settled physical explanation, or that are documented primarily as folklore, legend or a historical eyewitness account rather than as physical atmospheric optics: will-o'-the-wisps and the many regional names for the same phenomenon (onibi, hitodama, kitsunebi, min min light, spooklight), the Hessdalen and Marfa lights, and the historical celestial-phenomenon accounts over Basel and Nuremberg. These are kept apart from the subcategory's Atmospheric Optical Phenomena group precisely because their cause is disputed, folkloric or unresolved rather than a matter of established optics.
