Kitsunebi, or fox fire, is an atmospheric ghost light described in folklore across Japan outside Okinawa Prefecture, also known locally as hitobosu, hitomoshi or rinka. Traditional accounts attribute the unexplained lights to kitsune, the fox spirits of Japanese legend.
