In photography, the golden hour is the period of daytime that falls shortly after sunrise or before sunset, when the sun sits low in the sky and its light travels through more of the atmosphere. During this stretch, daylight takes on a warmer, redder cast and a softer quality than the harsher light of midday, a quality photographers and filmmakers often seek out deliberately.
