A fog desert is a type of desert in which coastal fog, rather than rainfall, supplies most of the moisture that sustains animal and plant life, arriving as fog drip that condenses on vegetation and the ground. The Atacama Desert of coastal Chile and Peru, the Baja California desert of Mexico, Namibia's Namib Desert and the fog-shrouded coast of the Arabian Peninsula are real-world examples of the pattern.
